Dhela Zone Information
A visit to Jim Corbett National Park promises a once-in-a-lifetime experience, immersing you in its breathtaking natural beauty and thrilling wildlife encounters. The Dhela Zone, renowned for its majestic animals and excellent tiger sightings, is a standout feature of the park. Covering 1,173 hectares, Dhela Zone was established as the sixth eco-tourism zone of Corbett National Park in 2014. Located just 20 kilometers from Ramnagar and adjacent to the Jhirna safari zone, this area is surrounded by dense forests and diverse vegetation, including Sal, Rohini, Haldu, Bahera, and Kusum trees, making it an ideal spot for birdwatching.
Dhela Zone is home to a rich array of wildlife, including tigers, bears, elephants, and leopards. Visitors can explore two designated trails, each offering a 3 to 4-kilometer stroll through the wild. Each day, up to 180 tourists—90 in the morning and 90 in the evening—are permitted to experience the zone. For those captivated by the stunning landscapes, the Dhela Forest Lodge provides comfortable accommodation. One of the highlights of the zone is Laldhang, a grassland area where you can spot wild pigs, nilgai, and a variety of bird species.
Dhela Forest House
Night stays at Dhela Corbett Forest Rest House are available from November 15th to June 14th each year. The rest house offers two rooms, with the option for an extra bed upon request. The entire area is securely fenced, and a large part of the campus allows for continuous observation of animal movements throughout the day. While there is no kitchen facility on-site, guests are required to bring their own raw ingredients, including spices and cooking oil. A chef is available to prepare meals. Hot water is provided, and electricity is supplied in the evening, relying on solar power.
